Medical Cyclotron

Our Radiochemistry lab functions are as per the safety norms defined by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB). The lab is equipped with highly efficient and best-in-class technology synthesizers. Both our synthesizers (TRASIS AIO 18 & TRASIS AIO 30+HPLC) are capable of performing 4 runs on each synthesizer. This enables us to accommodate more clients and provide an uninterrupted supply of radiopharmaceuticals.

A desired quantity of 18F is produced and received in the lab, after which, the 18F ions are labelled with Glucose, PSMA and DOPA.

A small aliquot of the final product is forwarded to the QC lab for quality testing. Rest of the product is then dispensed into sterile glass vials and sent to the packaging and monitoring room.

Physico-chemical testing of 18F-FDG, 18F-PSMA & 18F-DOPA is performed in our QC department using instruments such as TLC Scanner, Multichannel Analyzer, Gas Chromatography and Dose Calibrator. As per the specifications defined in British Pharmacopoeia, we follow a strict QC protocol for 18F-FDG,18F-PSMA & 18F-DOPA.

Some important quality tests of products are:

• Physical visual test to detect turbidity
• pH test
• Half-life of radionuclide
• Radionuclide purity
• Chemical purity
• Sterility

Each QC report is saved for our and auditor's records.

Every fine injectable radiopharmaceutical is packed in a sterile glass vial as per the consumer’s order. These vials are then cautiously packed in tungsten pots, secured in Type A dispatch boxes and delivered to the clients.

The radiation level for each consignment is measured and documented.
